2015 Tanabata Festival Winners!
Inspiration
Tanabata is a Japanese star festival that celebrates the reunion of Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair). According to legend they are separated by the Amanogawa (Milky Way, lit. "heavenly river") and may only meet once per year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
In present-day Japan people generally celebrate this day by writing wishes, often in the form of poetry, on small pieces of paper called tanzaku. They hang these on bamboo, sometimes with other decorations.
