28
signs of spring
longer evenings
and shedding horses
27
still day
quiet house
cats asleep
26
old bridle
another piece
replaced
25
slow falling snow
a blanket
silencing the street
24
tiny tiny tan moth
blends into the floor
baffling cats
23
February fire season
I worry
what August will be like
22 for Amy
gnarled apple tree
bent by the snow
of a hundred years
21
clouds slowly climbing
the mountain
20
midnight thunder-
kitten chasing her tail
in the bathtub
19
February haiku
should be about snow
not grass fires and short sleeves
18
once a Ute winter camp
our hiking trail
overlooks the cement plant
17
smell of bacon lingers
even the next day
I am hungry
16
winter rose bush
nothing but thorns
a windblown shirt blooms
15
after evacuation
time to go home-
my horse won't leave his new friend
14
dancing in the kitchen
to rediscovered song
funky funky
13
jeans still smell like smoke
once more
through the wash
12
side by side
dressage show horses
and shaggy backyard donkeys
11
last check on the empty barn
aisle full of debris
windblown or left behind
10
smoke on the air
all traffic stopped
except horse trailers
9
early-morning phone call
no need for coffee
instantly wide awake
8
cat on my lap
dog at my feet
work at home day
7
over the road
an arch
of wheeling starlings
6
blue spruce
outside window
hides a blue jay
5
Super Bowl Day
empty hiking trails
peaceful wandering
4
dusty barn
reminds my sore throat
it's time to cough again
3
cat lurking
dark shadow
amongst the books
2
a crack in the ice
a slice of river
flowing by
1
ice-coated grass
silver over gold
signs of spring
longer evenings
and shedding horses

NOTE Feb 11- had horse emergency. Evacuated all horses from the stable due to threatening brush fire. Stayed overnight at Fairgrounds and everyone home safe next morning, but this has stolen all human energy. I also hurt my hand. Took me a few days to catch up!

When did this happen? I was finishing out the January Renga Tree and didn't notice.

I take part in HaikuWriMo- writing a new haiku every day in February. These people do too!
