Will Rogers
collection of shells
at the high-tide mark

Hanauma Bay
first-time snorkeler
fish staring back at me

Kona
beach road
bike reflectors
under blue velvet sky

Kahalu'u
flash of yellow fish
following
sleepy-eyed sea turtle

Puako
Half-drowned
walking on flowers
feels like heaven

Keahou Bay
faraway music
white surf separates
black sea and black stone

Onomea Bay
locals climb the fence-
we are content
with the rocky beach

Kahalu'u
beautiful fish
right underfoot
hurrying to get my snorkel on

Punalu'u
so many tourists
black sand
crumbling cookie crust

Keokea
under the sheltering tree
a freshwater pond-
blue heron waits
I didn't expect a lot of writing time in Hawaii, but being 4 hours ahead of local time means long dark mornings. I woke up remembering the haiku I'd written about Will Rogers State Park and that was that. Hopefully will be adding to this along the way or when we get home.
NOTE: I am collecting this HUGE comment renga, I'll call it 2013 Dragon2th Renga, so look it up!
