January

your birthday
but all I remember
is the frost

February

pink dawn
tail lights
all the way to Vail

April

bloody knuckles
but the toilet works

May

finals week
even the squirrels
have pizza

June

on the radio again
that song
I'll be humming all day

August

smoke follows you
-a white ribbon-
but I don't

September

honeybees
and helicopters
pass by over the hill

October

orange morning
fading sunrise
fallen leaves, ginger cat

November

weak economy
a maze
in every corn field

December

all my paperwork
piece by piece removed
from under the kitten
A sampling of my 2010 haiku writing, by month.

It's possible I was writing for journals that want only unposted haiku during the down months. I don't have record of that, unfortunately.
In March it looks like I spent the whole month sewing…
In July it seems I was doing some very intense job pursuit...

I DID do 3 sets where I wrote a haiku every day for a month,
and in August participated in a HUGE renga. So no guilt over taking a month off here and there.

January is my birthday (yesterday in fact - I turned 50).
It would be funny if frost was frosting - so that all the person is remembering is the cake.
I love the colour of October.
I enjoyed the whole set. A year in haiku - a great idea that I might have a go at too.
